While we continue to shelter in place, there is still one way to transport ourselves elsewhere: reading. Literature has always been a vital part of the human experience – it allows us to explore new destinations, eras and points of view, while also creating a shared experience between the reader, the author and fellow readers.

During this session, we will connect you with two captivating novelists – USA Today bestselling author of historical fiction and speaker, Susan Meissner, and bestselling southern fiction novelist and award-winning design blogger, Kristy Woodson Harvey – who will share and discuss unique, yet overlapping, stories of friendship, humanity and hope.

Susan Meissner is the USA Today bestselling author of historical fiction with more than half a million books in print in fifteen languages. Her novels include As Bright as Heaven, which received a starred review from Library Journal; Secrets of a Charmed Life (a 2015 Goodreads Choice award finalist); and A Fall of Marigolds, named to Booklist’s Top Ten women’s fiction titles for 2014. She is also a RITA finalist and Christy Award and Carol Award winner.

Released on April 7, Susan’s newest novel The Last Year of War is an emotional tour de force about what it means to be human. This unforgettable story is a touching tribute to the power and joy and persistence of friendship.

As Bright As Heaven has also been widely revisited since the outbreak of Covid-19. Written about the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, readers are offered a glimmer of hope as they discover that the heaviness of loss was quickly replaced by The Roaring Twenties – a decade of economic growth and widespread prosperity.

Kristy Woodson Harvey is the bestselling author of six novels, including The Southern Side of ParadiseSlightly South of Simple, and the forthcoming Feels Like Falling. She is the winner of the Lucy Bramlette Patterson Award for Excellence in Creative Writing and a finalist for the Southern Book Prize. Her work has been optioned for film, and her books have received numerous accolades including Southern Living’s Most Anticipated Beach Reads, Parade’s Big Fiction Reads, and Entertainment Weekly’s Spring Reading Picks.

Set to release on April 28, 2020, Kristy’s breakout novel Feels Like Falling is told with her signature charm, wit, and heart. She crafts a story full of the best ingredients: two women from different walks of life, a messy divorce, family tension, and a steamy affair – but ultimately, it’s a reminder that no matter how far you fall, it’s never too late to pick yourself back up.

Feels Like Falling is available for Pre-Order on Amazon.
