CoolSculpting is a new way to contour the body
By Amy Zimmer
Think of it as the leanest lunch break you will ever take. CoolSculpting was definitely on my menu.
CoolSculpting is an innovative, non-surgical, non-invasive way to contour your body by freezing unwanted fat. It utilizes an FDA-cleared technology developed by Harvard scientists to safely freeze fat cells in common problem areas. Your lunch menu reads like a check-off list of additional side orders, such as the abdomen, inner thigh, outer thigh, flank/side, and under the chin.
It’s quick, causes very little discomfort and produces a powerful punch at stubborn fat. Depending on the area you want to treat, the process lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour or more.
There needs to be enough fat to pinch to treat the area. Like other fat reducers, it is not for weight loss; it is best for those who are a reasonable weight with stubborn fat areas.
I was on a mission to reduce stubborn fat on my outer and inner thighs that would not budge no matter how much weight I lost or how much I worked out. I wasn’t ready for liposuction, nor was I a good candidate.
After a recent consultation with Ann, a registered nurse at Dimension Cool Aesthetics (www.dcaesthetics.com) based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, I knew I was headed in the right direction. I felt it very important to work with someone who was highly trained, recommended and who would be honest about whether I would benefit from the treatment.
Ann was able to pinch enough fat in the targeted area. I asked about other areas, but she was honest in letting me know I would not see results because there was not enough fat.
A pad is placed over the area to be treated, and the fat is sucked up into a hand piece. The fatty area will go numb shortly after the treatment begins, so you feel no discomfort during the procedure. After the process, Ann massaged the area to encourage the break up of fat. Once the fat cells die, they are naturally eliminated by the body’s filtration system over the next few months.
The overall fat reduction in treated areas is approximately 25 percent. Depending on your goal, two treatments may be necessary. You may have some tenderness, redness, swelling and bloating, which is normal and will subside within the first few weeks. You will start to see the results within a few months. The results are long-lasting if not permanent. Remember, your diet and exercise are very important to your long-term results.
I could not be more pleased with my results. There are other procedures, such as SculpSure, that produce similar results. Check your local market to see what noninvasive fat-melting treatments are available. E
