Rent anything from runway fashion to private planes to luxury handbags
By Amy Zimmer
Leasing luxury is a modern day Cinderella story. With one click of the mouse, the fairytale begins. The millennials, born between 1982 and 2004, with their will of “not to own” are driving this á la carte lifestyle, and I must say it has become my new addiction.
Thanks to online sites such as Rent the Runway, Bag Borrow or Steal, JetSmarter and Airbnb, you can be ready for a formal holiday soirée or weekend getaway in minutes. Designers such as Carmen Marc Valvo, David Meister, Diane Von Furstenberg, Milly, Etro and Escada, just to name a few, are delivered to your door in two sizes. For $139 per month, you can also try the unlimited option at Rent the Runway and always have three new dresses in your arsenal.
A jet-set lifestyle formally exclusive only to the über rich just became a little more accessible. Companies like JetSmarter offer empty seats for last-minute getaways with main hubs out of Atlanta, New York, Washington and South Florida on the East Coast. Download the app and you can charter a jet to wherever your heart desires. Travel like a rock star. You can even rent your luggage for the occasion!
You may have heard or even experienced the benefits of Airbnb. As a lessee and lessor, I have certainly experienced both benefits. As our travel takes us around the world, sometimes our go-to hotel chains are not available, but someone’s beautiful home or apartment is waiting on us. My only tip here is be sure to read the descriptions carefully, pay attention to the images (they are key to knowing what you’re renting), and ask questions if something is not 100 percent clear.
Ever wanted to stay in a yurt, Airstream, sailboat or enjoy glamping (glamorous camping)? If you can dream it, you can lease or rent it.
