THE SOCIETY-STUDDED LAUNCH PARTY was hosted by New York socialite philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and her husband, Martin, managing director of the wealth management and investment banking firm, Stifel, at their magnificent Southampton, Long Island retreat. Jean, who appears on the cover, numbers the first national humane organization, American Humane, among the many charitable organizations for which she tirelessly volunteers. The love of dogs is the thread that ties Jean together with Cathy Bissell, founder of the Bissell Pet Foundation, and Kimberli Scott, a lifelong advocate of the care and adoption of stray dogs and cats.
