Where to Stay In Lower Manhattan

by Elysian Magazine

Manhattan is famous for…well, everything. Not the least of which is its hotels. It also can be mayhem to navigate unless you know the public transport system and when the weather is bad—as it’s apt to be in New York in February—hailing a taxi is impossible. You’ve got two solutions: hire a private car, which is fine if you can. Or—better yet—be smart and pick your hotel near where you’re going to spend your time. If you’re attending Fashion Week, then you want to stay downtown, in easy walking distance of Spring Studio, where the runway shows are happening. Just remember to pack comfortable, waterproof walking boots—yes, even hiking boots are all the rage these days—because you’ll need them.

Nestled among the trendy galleries and boutiques of downtown Tribeca, this modern five-star hotel offers luxurious appointments in its 201 guest rooms such as Five Wits toiletries and Frette bathrobes. The hotel’s kitchen and bar is a restaurant during the daytime and one of the most popular nightclubs in the city from dusk till 2 A.M. On the cellar level is the famous Roxy Cinema, where film fans can see some great, seldom-seen motion pictures. Get tickets for the first night of Fashion Week, February 11, to see SEVEN BEAUTIES, the 1975 film on the life of everyman Pasquale Frafuso as he navigates his way through Neopolitan Society. That same night, NEW YORK NINJA will be shown. This 2021 action film is about a news station sound technician who goes vigilante after his pregnant wife is murdered.
