Empowering Women: How ELYSIAN Impact and Silent Tears Support Survivors of Domestic Violence

ELYSIAN Impact is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of women. One of the most powerful ways we do this is through our partnership with Silent Tears, a South Carolina-based initiative that addresses domestic violence and supports survivors.

Silent Tears has been a cornerstone of support for domestic violence centers in South Carolina for over a decade. The organization’s commitment to ending child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence is unwavering. In 2019, Silent Tears’ founder Bob Castellani announced a $5 million gift to support organizations dedicated to these causes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Silent Tears launched a crucial fundraising campaign to support domestic violence centers in South Carolina. The “Silent Tears 2020 Emergency Match” campaign came at a critical time. The pandemic led to unforeseen costs for these centers, such as housing clients in hotels to maintain social distancing. Meanwhile, donations dropped, and federal funding was cut.

Silent Tears stepped up with a $525,000 matching fund. For every dollar donated, the organization added two more. The 2-to-1 match campaign supported five key domestic violence centers across South Carolina, centers that serve some of the most vulnerable communities.

As Silent Tears Executive Director Kelly Nichols put it, “Maintaining the safety net for survivors is a matter of life or death.” This campaign ensured services remained available for those in need.
