Laurie Bogart Wiles has another reason to celebrate. Her eighteenth book, The Shooter’s Bible to Shotgun Sports for Women, has just been released. Published by the New York publishing house Skyhorse Press and distributed by Simon & Schuster, the largest publishing house in the world, this is the first Shooter’s Bible in the more than 80-year history of the annual title to be written by a woman, for women.
“I suppose you can say I broke another glass ceiling,” said Wiles, who was honored by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, an elite organization of senators and congressmen, as “the foremost woman outdoor writer in the country” shortly after the publication of her first book, Shooting Sports for Women (St. Martin’s Press) in 1998. A Shooter’s Bible has been published every year continuously since the 1930s and is universally considered the most comprehensive and sought-after reference guide for sportsmen. I embraced a huge challenge in writing this book, and I believe I met that challenge. For example, my chapter on gun safety is perhaps the most definitive to appear in any book, and my chapter on hunting stories written by women has no comparison. That I am the first woman to write a Shooter’s Bible is noteworthy—but it’s also an honor.”
The Shooter’s Bible has already sold over 7 million copies. The Shooter’s Bible to Shotgun Sports for Women is now available at independent bookstores, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and more.
