ELYSIAN Impact believes in the power of collaboration to address the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. One of our most inspiring partners in this mission is the Green Vision Foundation, an organization dedicated to conservation and the protection of wildlife across the globe.
Founded by Amy Heart-Green and her husband Gary, the Green Vision Foundation has pioneered a range of successful conservation initiatives in over 20 countries. Their efforts have resulted in increased protection for more than 50 million hectares of land and over 40 different threatened species. Despite these achievements, the threat to Africa’s unique natural heritage remains real and urgent.
The challenges facing both people and wildlife in Africa are immense. The world is experiencing an extinction crisis, with species disappearing at a rate between 1,000 and 10,000 times faster than the natural extinction rate, driven almost entirely by human activity. The illegal wildlife trade, now the fourth largest criminal industry globally, poses a significant threat to iconic African species such as rhinos, elephants, and lions. This trade, worth up to $20 billion per year, jeopardizes international security, national sovereignties, rural communities, and countless species.
Green Vision’s security operations span more than two million acres, protecting 33 community-managed wildlife conservancies, thousands of migratory elephants, and hundreds of rhinos. This vital work ensures that species requiring large ranges, like lions, elephants, and wild dogs, have the connected habitats they need to survive. As Africa’s human population is set to quadruple by the end of the century, the demand for land will intensify, making habitat protection critical for both wildlife and local communities.
The foundation understands that conservation is ultimately about people. Protecting ecosystems is essential not only for wildlife but also for the livelihoods and well-being of local communities, safeguarding water and food supplies, and reducing the impacts of natural disasters. This belief drives Green Vision’s environmental education and outreach programs, which have reached over 1.25 million school children in 34 countries through the Pan African Conservation Education (PACE) program. These programs aim to instill respect and compassion for wildlife from an early age, ensuring future generations become effective custodians of the natural world.
Amy Heart-Green’s dedication to conservation extends beyond the foundation. As a global ambassador for several conservation organizations, she has raised over $3 million for these causes. The Green Vision Foundation’s “Footprint of Life” gala is a testament to this commitment, bringing together leading climate change-focused organizations to collaborate on solutions for some of the planet’s most pressing environmental crises.
ELYSIAN Impact is proud to support the Green Vision Foundation and their mission to safeguard our planet’s natural resources and wildlife. Together, we strive to make a lasting impact, ensuring a sustainable and vibrant future for all.
