Jody Thomas, the executive director of the National Foundation for Women Legislators, shares her thoughts on the strides women have made in running for and winning elected office – and on the work that remains ahead. Despite the brutal nature of campaigning and gender bias on Election Day, Thomas says women in office are successfully bringing up policies that have never been in the spotlight – and through their ability to negotiate and compromise, they are seeing increased success in getting those policies codified into law.
