Recipe: Homestyle Coleslaw

A perfect side for the picnic basket or the dining table.



4 cups of green cabbage

1 cup of purple cabbage

1 cup of carrots

1 small, sweet onion.


Use a mandoline or a sharp paring knife to shred each ingredient.

Put in a large mixing bowl and combine.



½ cup mayonnaise,

½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

2 Tablespoons honey or agave

2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

2 Tablespoons celery seed

1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste


In a small bowl, whisk together all ingredients.

Add the dressing to the shredded ingredients and mix well. Cover and refrigerate. Allow to sit overnight if possible so the flavors can meld.
