LYSIAN was the result of Karen Floyd’s personal quest to tell and listen to stories about exceptional women. From her early twenties as a young prosecutor . . . to the women she has interviewed over the past eight years as ELYSIAN’s publisher and editor, Floyd shares insights that are intended to encourage and move our readers.
On the surface, Floyd’s interviews are about women succeeding, overcoming, persevering, and enduring. As the number of years and interviews have grown, Floyd no longer asks, “Is it timing, virtue, luck, funding, perseverance, faith, endurance or passion?”

After a decade of building a robust readership targeted to women aged 38 and above, ELYSIAN is entering a new chapter. In August of 2025, Ivy Mae Anderson became the first Aspiring Woman to grace the cover of ELYSIAN Magazine, marking a pivotal moment in this evolution. The publication’s reinvigorated purpose aims to connect the dots between generations, creating tangible pathways for mentorship and community. Now honing its energies toward a generation of younger, aspirational women, ELYSIAN engages a wider audience with fresh perspectives. New understandings, growth, and the transference of knowledge—made possible by elevating these younger voices—will be what unites and emboldens us.
