ELYSIAN’s 10 Year Kickoff Celebration to Support Spartanburg Humane Society

by Amber Edwards

The Spartanburg Humane Society is preparing to embark on a transformative project to enhance animal welfare in the community. ELYSIAN’s 10-year kick-off celebration on May 9 will serve as a benefit to raise seed money for the Spartanburg Humane Society’s capital campaign.

Founded in 1927, the Spartanburg Humane Society has long been dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in need. However, its current facility, while well-loved, has limitations that hinder its ability to provide the highest standard of care for the animals it serves. To address this, the Humane Society has unveiled plans for a cutting-edge facility that will offer a comfortable, safe, and enriching environment for both the animals and their caregivers.

The new facility will feature a dedicated veterinary unit to ensure that animals receive top-notch medical care, as well as a unique swimming pool designed specifically for therapeutic purposes. This will help provide a calming, stress-relieving environment for animals awaiting adoption. Additionally, the new design includes a spacious yard where dogs can roam freely while their kennels are being cleaned, promoting both physical and mental well-being.

With the success of this project, the Spartanburg Humane Society aims to set a new standard for animal welfare services, making a lasting impact on the community. The benefit event will be a pivotal moment in raising the necessary funds to bring this ambitious vision to life. The generosity and support from local residents and business leaders will be crucial in realizing this dream, ensuring that the Humane Society can continue to fulfill its mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals for years to come.

One of the key figures who has played a significant role in Spartanburg’s growth and development is retired U.S. Army General Darwin Simpson. Nearly 16 years ago, Simpson was appointed as the director of the Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport, which was in desperate need of revitalization. Since then, he has been instrumental in modernizing the facility, transforming it into a vital economic driver for the region.

Business aviation now accounts for approximately 90 percent of the airport’s operations, underscoring its importance to Spartanburg’s continued growth. Simpson’s efforts have not only benefitted the airport but also the broader community, as his leadership has helped elevate Spartanburg on the map as a destination for business and investment.

We at ELYSIAN extend our deepest appreciation to Darwin Simpson for his ongoing support. His generosity in flying our team across the country for key meetings and events has been invaluable to our success, and we are grateful for his dedication to both the airport and the community.

Come ready to adopt and shop for a great cause! 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction at this event will benefit the Spartanburg Humane Society. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to meet some adorable pups looking for their forever homes. Your support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of these animals. We can’t wait to see you there!

If you are not able to attend the event on May 9, you can still make a meaningful impact! Consider supporting the Spartanburg Humane Society with a donation today. Your generosity helps make a difference in the lives of animals in need. Thank you for your continued support!
