Letter From The Publisher: Fall 2016

Our Premise

ELYSIAN is a lifestyle magazine recognized for exquisite visuals and informative content. Greek in origin, Elysian means beautiful or creative, divinely inspired, peaceful and perfect.

With these ingredients steering our regional and women-centric publication, we have expanded our coverage to include the equestrian. William Shakespeare describes the magnificence of a mount in Henry V, “When I bestride him, I soar, I am a hawk: he trots the air; the earth sings when he touches it; the basest horn of his hoof is more musical than the pipe of Hermes.” Our reporting ranges from an overview of the Tryon International Equestrian Center, to Kentucky Derby hats to the Block House Steeplechase in Tryon. As timing would have it, when we began this edition’s Women of Distinction series, our editorial board had selected Katherine Bellissimo as one of four honorees. Horse shows spanning the nation from New York’s Central Park, Tryon, N.C., Denver and Wellington, Fla., have experienced Katherine’s leadership.

We are also able to track our readership digitally. While this publication’s Women of Distinction section continues to be the most frequented, the philanthropic endeavor of Upstate Warrior Solution ranks a close second. On July 4, ELYSIAN hosted an auction at Vintage Warehouse of Spartanburg featuring intricate wedding dresses created by Eva Forsyth, the renowned New York designer. The remaining bridal gowns will continue to be sold online, with all proceeds from the auction going to Upstate Warrior Solution.

Our goal continues to be building a breadth of knowledge around areas of importance identified by the authentic ELYSIAN reader. Spotlighting the arts, culture, beauty, style, dining, drink, philanthropy, health, fitness, home, travel, exploration, and now equestrian, we endeavor to become your regional resource.

Enjoy.
