The 2020 Fashion Industry
The year 2020 has been, without a doubt, educational for all designers, retailers, and distributors in the fashion industry. Starting with Paris Fashion Week, buyers and viewers watched the models strut the runway online instead of in-person due to COVID restrictions. Buyers also had to view each designer’s collection separately by appointment, causing a severe disruption in the industry’s rigorous schedule. Designers and sellers alike were unsure about what to do, considering most retailers around the world were starting to shut down while consumers were given stay-at-home orders.
Despite dour predictions, the fashion industry was able to adapt to the shift in consumer behavior through the pandemic by catering to their needs online. Although some malls and stores have begun to reopen, customers can still utilize the ‘buy online, pick up in store’ option to spend less time in-store. In fact, new research reveals that the pandemic has bolstered retailers’ online presence; as many consumers began adopting multi-channel shopping behaviors, businesses had to accommodate this shift in preference by expanding digitally.
A study conducted by Salesforce found that consumers now interact online 60% of the time and offline 40% of the time. A report published by GlobalData on September 15, 2020 revealed that multi-channel shopping experiences (offering multiple shopping platforms to consumers) maximizes customer efficiency in a way that single channel shopping cannot. Now, high-end, luxury designer products are readily available online by retailers such as Farfetch, Net-A-Porter, Neiman Marcus, and many more.

Metallic Everything
The metallic trend is always revived around the holidays. Sleek silver dresses draped like a sheet across your body make for an appealing outfit, as do all the sequined purses and accessories. Whether your piece is flashy silver or bronzy gold, it’s bound to make for glamorous evening attire.
Not only does this look work for parties, but it can also be implemented into work attire as well. Golden-glazed vests beneath a navy blazer can add a bit of glitz to your style, plus, shiny outfits are perfect for day-to-night looks.
Chic Fringe
Last year, Milan Fashion Week predicted fringe would be the trend in 2020. Brands like Bottega Veneta, Gabriella Hearst, and Prada heavily featured fringey pieces in their fall collections. The fringe style looks best when incorporated modestly into your outfit. Fringe hem pants, skirts, jackets, and purses are all excellent stand-out pieces that create a free-spirited look.
If you’re new to wearing fringe, then it’s important to remember that less is more. A fringe suede jacket can look futuristic or bohemian depending on what you pair it with. It’s an innovative embellishment that has the ability to reform an otherwise bland outfit and can be incorporated into a variety of styles.
All Black
This look is a classic and super flattering so we are glad to announce that all black is back. It’s sleek, chic, and when layered with other black pieces, very bold. A long black trench coat paired with black pointed heels is a perfect outfit for when you’re on-the-go, plus it’ll keep you warm throughout the winter!
Faux Fur
Teddy coats and bulky fur jackets can help you achieve the perfect diva look and they’re well enough insulated to serve as your winter coat! Faux fur comes in a variety of textures and styles like furry lined booties that add a little flair to the foot.
Growing environmental awareness in the fashion industry has led more designers and retailers to produce items using fake fur. So if you want to be comfortable and environmentally conscious, faux fur jackets will be your best friend this winter.
