Where to dine is not the problem. The problem is, there are so many fabulous restaurants to choose from. Here are some favorites by those in the know.
PISTACHE FRENCH BISTRO
PISTACHE FRENCH BISTRO, located on trendy Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach, is a classic Parisian restaurant where you can dine alfresco on a covered porch with views of the Intracoastal Waterway and Centennial Park, or indoors, in its dining room resplendent with brass detailing, antique mirrors and Art Nouveau, leather-upholstered banquettes. Among their many specialties are Fennel-Spiced Roasted Mahi Mahi and Grilled Atlantic Salmon.
DARBSTER is a vegetarian bistro whose innovative, delicious, all-natural and organic menu features Butternut Squash Ravioli with cashew parmesan, pesto, red pepper cream, and sprouts and other specialties, such as potato corn chowder, Tempeh Reuban, and Raw Lasagna made with zucchini pasta, onions, Portobello mushrooms, olives, marinara, cashew ricotta, walnut pesto and parmesan. 8020 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach.
OKEECHOBEE STEAK HOUSE
OKEECHOBEE STEAK HOUSE has been family owned-and-operated since 1847, when it was opened by Ralph and Norma Lewis and handed down to their son, Curtis, and his wife Jeannie. The family’s famously secret beef aging process produces succulent, tender, dry-aged Certified UDSA Prime Beef that’s hand-cut in-house, the likes of which you will find nowhere else. For starters, order Classic Escargot baked in garlic herb butter in golden puffed pastry, followed by a 20-ounce Kansas City Sirloin, or a thick, 14- ounce boneless center cut New York Strip Steak, or for those with a big appetite, a 27-ounce Bone-in Ribeye Steak served with Portobello Mushroom Demi-Glace. If it’s seafood you prefer, order the broiled South African Rock Lobster Tails or Oven-Roasted Stuffed Colossal Shrimp with Crab Meat Stuffing. 2854 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach.
