Bozeman – Soul Town of the American West

Bozeman, Montana

Soul Town of the American West

Bozeman is the county seat of Gallatin County, Montana, and the fourth largest city in the state. The Gallatin Valley, native land to the Crow Nation primarily, as well as the Shoshone and others, is where Bozeman was founded in 1864 by American pioneer John M. Bozeman. Just two years later, a successful Virginia City gold miner named Nelson Story saw gold in the cattle business. He drove 1,000 head of longhorn cattle through hostile territory to establish Big Sky Country’s cattle industry in a big way in what is called “the valley of the flowers.”

Described as one of the most beautiful and picturesque valleys, “abounding in springs of clear water,” Bozeman has attracted flocks of people across the years who want to stake out a new and restful life far from the madding crowd, surrounded by Nature’s glory. Its school, government, and municipal systems reflect an increase of full-time residents, and its growing downtown with its delightful shops, gourmet restaurants, brisk nightlife and luxury hotels is reflected in the growth of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, through which thousands and thousands of visitors come every year.

Bozeman boasts over 50 hotels, among which is the AC Marriott, located at 110 North Tracy Avenue downtown. This ultra-modern, six-story hotel “caters to travelers looking to embark in the great outdoors and immerse themselves in the energy of historic downtown Bozeman” and is where ELYSIAN guests will be staying Saturday, May 7, as part of our Summer Launch celebration. Walk into the intuitively designed lobby, which has “everything you need—and nothing you don’t,” and pause at the lounge for a break to find a curated selection of small shareable plates and handcrafted cocktails. If you’d rather workout, their fitness center has all the equipment you need for a full-body workout. When it’s time to relax, enjoy your minimalist, yet luxuriously appointed, room with en-suite bath, and you’ll appreciate why ELYSIAN chose the AC Marriott for you, our special guests.

This is much more than a hotel. This is a hotel that offers service, the old-fashioned kind with hotel staff who knows how to truly cater to their guests, with panache and a smile. The AC Marriott staff is ready to assist you, so if you can, consider staying over a few days and schedule a hot air balloon ride or sky diving for those who are fearless of heights; or the staff can plan a sightseeing tour of Yellowstone National Park for you, or hiking, a ranch visit, a fly-fishing day, or how about a tour of Bozeman’s local breweries—on foot or by bicycle?

If you return to Montana with your family, you and any young children with you will want to go to State of Play, Bozeman’s modern and intentional play & art space for kids through the age of six (accompanied by a parent.) If your children or grandchildren are older, there’s Spire-Indoor Rock Climbing where you can safely scale the heights indoors. Or take the family to Jump Time Indoor Trampoline Park, one of Bozeman’s newest family attractions, and the kids can work off some energy while you work off some calories yourself too, if you like.

For golfers, there’s the Bridger Creek Golf Course and the Cottonwood Hills Golf Club. For skiers, nearby Bridger Bowl Ski Area is a delight. And for a luxurious experience just for yourself, there’s Canyon River Spa and Salon, a full-service Aveda salon, and Instinct Holistic Medical Spa, where licensed skincare professionals help you look—and feel—your best. After all, a trip to Montana’s Big Sky Country can be a much bigger experience than just herding cows.

ELYSIAN Summer Launch guests will have an opportunity to spend Sunday morning sampling some of the many activities the hotel will arrange, such as a hike to Lookout Hyalite reservoir or a fly-fishing clinic before your flight home.
